the concept i am going to is chapter 8 section 1

we are solving for theta. in order to find theta you must get the trig function by itself and find its inverse. an inverse has 2 answer with some exceptions find where the angle is based on trig function and if number is positive or negative.

step 1: take the inverse of the postive number to find quadrant angle to get to

step 2: make postive add 180

step 3: add 180

step 4: make the number from step 1 negative by adding 360

Example: 2cos(theta)=-1

step 1: carry the 2 over

(theta)= cos (-1)1/2

step 2: check your trig chart to see if 1/2 is on it. 1/2=pi/6=30 degrees.

step 3: graph and cos is postive in quad 2 and 3.

step 4: make it postive by add 180.

step 5: add 360 to make the answer negative

and answer should be 180.154; 359.845
