Nathan's blog #3

The concept I will go over is from section 8-1.

You are solving for theta. In order to do that you must get the trig funtion by itself, and then take the inverse.

Inverses have 2 answers with only a few exceptions. You must find where the angle is base on the trig function, and then determine if it is positive or negative.

Step 1: Take the inverse of the positive number.

Here are the steps to get from the first quadrant to the other three.

Q2: make the number negative and add 180 degrees
Q3: add 180 degrees
Q4: make the number negative and add 360 degrees

Ex.1: 2 sec (theta)= 4

Now you must divide by 2 to get: sec(theta)= 2

2 is on the trig chart under: sec π/3=2
π/3=60
sec is related to the x-axis, so x is positive in Quandrants I and IV.

You already have Q I.
To get to Q IV, you have to make 60 negative and add 360.
So -60+360 =300 degrees

theta= 60 degrees and 300 degrees.

That was one of the two concepts we learned this week due to three tests. I found this to be pretty easy especially if you know your trig chart. So I don't have to worry about this on Sunday.
