Helen's Blog #3

I'm going to go over 8-1.

Solving for Theta

1: To solve for theta you get the function by itself, then you take the inverse.

2: An inverse has 2 answers with some exceptions, Find where the angle is based on trig function and it the number is positive or negative.

3: Steps to take the inverse of the positive number to find the quadrant angle.

STEPS:

To get to :
Q2: Make negative, then add 180°
Q3: Add 180°
Q4: Make negative, then add 360°

Example:

2 sin(theta)= -1

1: you just divide by 2 to get:
sin( theta)= -1/4

2: you just have to take the inverse which will give you:
(theta)= sin-1(-1/2)

3: you have to make the number positive and add 180 degrees and you get:
(theta)=30 degrees+180degrees= 210 degrees

4: you just have to make the number negative and add 360 degrees:
( theta)= -30+360= 330 degrees

and that's it you just solved the problem. :)
