chapter 11 section 1

convert to rectangular use the following formulas

x=r cos theta
y=r sin theta

and convert to polar use the formulas

r=squared root x squared plus y squared

Example: Give the polar point for (3,5)
r=squared root 3 squared plus 5 squared= squared root of 34

tan theta=three over 5
theta= tan inverse(three over five)=31
put it on the coordinating plane
theta=211
so the answer is squared root of 34, 31 and the negative squared root of 34,211
